Transfer students are a significant part of Northern's enrollment of 22,500 students. In the fall of 1998, community college transfer students comprised 32 percent of all undergraduates while community college and four-year university transfers comprised 43 percent of the undergraduate student body. In all, over 2,200 students transfer to Northern each fall. In fact, in 1998, 55 percent of all bachelor's degrees awarded at NIU went to transfer students!
